Mostly they are only small but can be released in isolated cases by a single winter sport participant. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions avalanche prone locations are a little more prevalent. Adjacent to ridgelines avalanches can be triggered in deep layers of the snowpack and reach medium size in some cases. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. The fresh snow and wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular here. The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations.Wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.dangerRatingMapSimplified danger rating map of the regionhttps://avalanche.report/albina_files_local/2020-01-22/2020-01-21_16-00-00/bf9d8371-f013-4594-bf51-3ad8bebb8c40.jpgwebsiteLink to region on the websitehttps://avalanche.report/bulletin/2020-01-22?region=bf9d8371-f013-4594-bf51-3ad8bebb8c402020-01-21T16:00:00Z2020-01-21T23:00:00Z2020-01-22T23:00:00ZKarwendel MountainsBrandenberg AlpsWestern Kitzbühel AlpsWilder Kaiser Mountains - Waidring AlpsEastern Kitzbühel AlpsWestern Lechtal AlpsCentral Lechtal AlpsGrieskogel MountainsAllgäu AlpsEastern Lechtal Alps - Ammergau AlpsMieming Mountainsmoderatetreelinemoderate212low11lowtreelinelow211low11dp6wind_drifted_snowNNEENWWtreelinedecreasing2020-01-22T23:00:00Z2020-01-23T23:00:00ZWind slabs at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The clearly visible wind slabs of the last few days must be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on west to north to east facing aspects above the tree line.
