Avalanche report for Tuesday 10 December 2024.
Wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence.
all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. This in all aspects.
In the last few days wind slabs formed at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The soft wind slabs of the weekend are in some cases still prone to triggering in all aspects above approximately 2000 m. Caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In high Alpine regions the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. In isolated cases avalanches are medium-sized and can be released even by a single winter sport participant.
And now the snowpack:
10 to 30 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Friday.
The tendency for Wednesday 11 December 2024 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
