Avalanche report for Tuesday 17 December 2024.

Individual avalanche prone locations for dry avalanches are to be found on extremely steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes.

all day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

As a consequence of a sometimes strong northerly wind, clearly visible wind slabs formed in the last few days. These are mostly only small but can be released in isolated cases. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2400 m. On extremely steep sunny slopes individual small wet loose snow slides are possible.

And now the snowpack:

As a consequence of a strong northerly foehn wind, small wind slabs formed in the last few days. These are in isolated cases prone to triggering on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. The weather will be very mild. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise to moistening of the snowpack on sunny slopes. In all altitude zones only a little snow is lying.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind.

The tendency for Wednesday 18 December 2024 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
