Avalanche report for Wednesday 15 January 2025.
Wind slabs require caution.
all day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.
Avalanches can in very isolated cases be released by a single winter sport participant, in particular on shady slopes above the tree line. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain.
And now the snowpack:
As a consequence of a strong to storm force wind from northerly directions, rather small wind slabs will form. The wind slabs will be deposited on soft layers in particular on steep shady slopes.
The tendency for Thursday 16 January 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
