Avalanche report for Sunday 2 February 2025.
New snow and wind slabs above the tree line.
all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. This in all aspects.
Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on steep slopes at high altitude, also on steep shady slopes in areas close to the tree line. The various wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack. The avalanche prone locations are clearly recognisable to the trained eye.
And now the snowpack:
Some snow has fallen over a wide area. Some snow will fall in some localities. The various wind slabs have bonded poorly with the old snowpack. In particular above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Below the tree line hardly any snow is lying.
The tendency for Monday 3 February 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
