Avalanche report for Friday 14 February 2025.
Fresh wind slabs require caution. Avalanches can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack.
all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North to North to South-West.
Furthermore, all day, above 2400 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
As a consequence of new snow and a light to moderate wind from variable directions, mostly small wind slabs will form in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. These are in some cases prone to triggering.
And now the snowpack:
Over a wide area 5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall. The new snow will be deposited on soft layers in particular on shady slopes at elevated altitudes.
The tendency for Saturday 15 February 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
