Avalanche report for Sunday 2 March 2025.
Wind slabs require caution. Avalanches can in isolated cases penetrate deep layers.
all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.
Furthermore, all day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
The fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant and reach medium size. Avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes above the tree line. Caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines, as well as in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise.
And now the snowpack:
The fresh snow of the last few days and the mostly small wind slabs to be found in particular adjacent to riddgelines are lying on soft layers on shady slopes.
The tendency for Monday 3 March 2025 indicates a decreasing avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
