Update of the avalanche report for Wednesday 12 March 2025.

Gliding avalanches and moist snow slides are possible.

all day it applies above 2200 meter low avalanche danger, so danger level one, below moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.

all day, below 2200 meter, we have a wet snow problem. This in all aspects.

As a consequence of the moist air more frequent moist loose snow avalanches are possible below approximately 2200 m. Mostly these are small and can be released by a single winter sport participant. As a consequence of the moist air there will be an increase in the danger of gliding avalanches.

And now the snowpack:

Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day. This applies on very steep sunny slopes, as well as on shady slopes at low and intermediate altitudes. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.

The tendency for Thursday 13 March 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
