Update of the avalanche report for Sunday 16 March 2025.
Wind slabs require caution. Slight increase in danger of gliding avalanches on steep grassy slopes.
all day it applies above 2200 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 2200 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, below 2400 meter, we have a gliding snow problem. This in all aspects.
More recent wind slabs are in some cases still prone to triggering. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on near-ridge shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. Their prevalence will increase with altitude. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow and are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. Avalanches can in isolated cases reach medium size.
And now the snowpack:
Some snow will fall in some regions. The wind will be light to moderate.
The tendency for Monday 17 March 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
