Avalanche report for Monday 24 March 2025.
Weakly bonded old snow and wet snow require caution. Fresh wind slabs at elevated altitudes.
all day it applies moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.
all day, below 2400 meter, we have a wet snow problem. This in all aspects.
Furthermore, all day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, above 2400 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.
Some small and medium-sized wet and gliding avalanches are possible as the penetration by moisture increases, in particular on very steep slopes below approximately 2400 m. As a consequence of solar radiation individual loose snow avalanches are to be expected, in the regions exposed to a lot of new snow especially in steep rocky terrain.
And now the snowpack:
5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen above approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of mild temperatures and very cloudy skies no crust will develop on the surface during the course of the night. The weather conditions will give rise to a loss of strength within the snowpack at low and intermediate altitudes.
The tendency for Tuesday 25 March 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
