Avalanche report for Friday 18 April 2025.
Wet snow represents the main danger. The new snow and wind slabs of the last few days must be evaluated with care and prudence above approximately 2400 m.
all day it applies above 1800 meter considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, between 1800 meter and 2600 meter, we have a wet snow problem. This in all aspects.
Furthermore, all day, above 2400 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
The conditions are unfavourable for backcountry touring. In particular on very steep slopes and below approximately 2600 m numerous medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large moist and wet avalanches are possible as the moisture increases. In particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes medium-sized to large moist and wet avalanches are to be expected.
And now the snowpack:
The rain gave rise to increasing and thorough wetting of the snowpack below approximately 2200 m. This situation will give rise to a loss of strength within the snowpack in particular on steep slopes.
The tendency for Saturday 19 April 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
