Update of the avalanche report for Sunday 20 April 2025.
Increase in danger of wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation.
earlier in the day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
later in the day it applies above 2800 meter low avalanche danger, so danger level one, below moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.
later in the day, below 2800 meter, we have a wet snow problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be a gradual increase in the danger of wet avalanches. Wet avalanches can in some places be released by a single winter sport participant. The avalanche prone locations are to be found especially on very steep west, north and east facing slopes below approximately 2800 m. Avalanches can release the saturated snowpack and reach medium size. Individual gliding avalanches can also occur, caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep grassy slopes in the regions with a lot of snow.
And now the snowpack:
The snowpack will be wet all the way through over a wide area. This applies on shady slopes below approximately 2600 m, as well as on sunny slopes below approximately 3000 m. Already many wet avalanches have been released in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes. On steep sunny slopes as well as at low and intermediate altitudes only a little snow is now lying. As a consequence of low temperatures the snowpack will consolidate during the course of the night.
The tendency for Monday 21 April 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
