Avalanche report for Friday 25 April 2025.

Wind slabs at high altitude. Wet snow requires caution.

all day it applies above 2600 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above 2600 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East. Furthermore, all day, between 2000 meter and 2600 meter, we have a wet snow problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.

Fresh wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases at elevated altitudes. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Mostly avalanches are only small. Loose snow slides are possible. In the event of prolonged bright spells this applies in particular. Wet avalanches can in very isolated cases be released by a single winter sport participant. Natural wet avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day. The avalanche prone locations are to be found especially on very steep west, north and east facing slopes below approximately 2600 m. Mostly wet avalanches are only small.

And now the snowpack:

In some regions up to 15 cm of snow will fall above approximately 2400 m. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from northerly directions, small wind slabs will form. These are lying on soft layers at elevated altitudes. Over a wide area an overcast night. The old snowpack is wet. This applies on shady slopes below approximately 2600 m, as well as on sunny slopes below approximately 3000 m.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind, dp.9: graupel blanketed with snow.

The tendency for Saturday 26 April 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
