Avalanche forecast for Thursday 4 December 2025.

Wind slabs require caution. Weakly bonded old snow at elevated altitudes.

all day it applies above 2600 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above 2600 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East. Furthermore, all day, above 2600 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.

The fresh and older wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases on very steep shady slopes. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain above approximately 2600 m. Avalanches can in isolated cases reach medium size. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. In very isolated cases avalanches can also be released in near-ground layers, in particular on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Steep, glaciated terrain must also be critically assessed.

And now the snowpack:

A little snow is lying. The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. The snowpack will be in most cases soft. Towards its base, the snowpack consists of faceted crystals. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack on shady slopes at elevated altitudes.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind, dp.1: deep persistent weak layer.

The tendency for Friday 5 December 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
