Avalanche forecast for Tuesday 9 December 2025.

Weakly bonded old snow and wet snow require caution.

all day it applies moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.

all day, above 2400 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East. Furthermore, all day, below 2600 meter, we have a wet snow problem. Especially in the aspects East to South to West.

In some places avalanches can be triggered in the weakly bonded old snow. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2400 m and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Mostly avalanches are small. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small wet loose snow avalanches are to be expected below approximately 2600 m, in particular on extremely steep sunny slopes. In addition further small to medium-sized gliding avalanches are possible. Caution is to be exercised in particular on steep grassy slopes.

And now the snowpack:

Below approximately 2600 m: Steep sunny slopes: The high temperatures will give rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack. Avalanche prone weak layers exist deeper in the old snowpack in particular on steep shady slopes. The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. From a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.1: deep persistent weak layer, dp.10: springtime scenario.

The tendency for Wednesday 10 December 2025 indicates a decreasing avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
