Avalanche forecast for Wednesday 24 December 2025.
Fresh wind slabs represent the main danger.
earlier in the day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
later in the day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
earlier in the day, above 2600 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.
Furthermore, later in the day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, later in the day, above 2600 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.
In isolated cases avalanches can be triggered in the weakly bonded old snow. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on extremely steep shady slopes above approximately 2600 m.
And now the snowpack:
In some regions up to 15 cm of snow will fall. The wind will be strong for a temporary period in some regions. The fresh wind slabs will be deposited on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack on wind-protected shady slopes. The old snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations.
We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind, dp.1: deep persistent weak layer. The tendency for Thursday 25 December 2025 indicates a decreasing avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
