Avalanche forecast for Thursday 25 December 2025.

Slight increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the new snow.

all day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.

As a consequence of new snow and a gusty wind, wind slabs formed in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. These can in some cases be released, even by a single winter sport participant, but they will be small in most cases. Caution is to be exercised in particular on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes above the tree line in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation. In some localities the wind slabs will increase in size during the night. In addition individual small loose snow avalanches are possible.

And now the snowpack:

In some regions 10 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen. The wind was strong at times in particular from the Koralpe West via the Packalpe to the Saualpe South. The fresh wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack on wind-protected northwest, north and northeast facing slopes.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind.

The tendency for Friday 26 December 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
