Avalanche forecast for Saturday 27 December 2025.

Wind slabs and weakly bonded old snow require caution.

all day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East. Furthermore, all day, above 2600 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.

Wind slabs can in isolated cases be released by a single winter sport participant, but they will be small in most cases. Caution is to be exercised in particular on shady slopes above the tree line in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Avalanches can in very isolated cases penetrate deep layers and reach medium size, especially at elevated altitudes. In isolated cases avalanches can be triggered in the weakly bonded old snow. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on extremely steep shady slopes above approximately 2600 m.

And now the snowpack:

In some regions up to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Wednesday. The wind will be strong in some regions. The fresh and older wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack on wind-protected shady slopes. The old snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind, dp.1: deep persistent weak layer.

The tendency for Sunday 28 December 2025 indicates a decreasing avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
