Update of the avalanche forecast for Saturday 10 January 2026.

Wind slabs require caution.

all day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above 2000 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to East.

The mostly shallow wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases especially on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. Caution is to be exercised in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Mostly avalanches are only small.

And now the snowpack:

In particular along the border with Styria 5 to 10 cm of snow has fallen since Friday. The wind will be moderate in the vicinity of peaks. The wind slabs are lying on unfavourable layers at elevated altitudes. The old snowpack consists of faceted crystals. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year in all altitude zones.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind.

The tendency for Sunday 11 January 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
