all day it applies above 1800 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 1800 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to East.
The wind slabs are prone to triggering in particular on northwest to north to east facing aspects above approximately 1800 m. In isolated cases avalanches are medium-sized and can be released by a single winter sport participant. Caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Along the border with Slovenia the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.
And now the snowpack:
5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Friday. The wind slabs are lying on unfavourable layers on shady slopes above approximately 1800 m. The old snowpack consists of faceted crystals.
The tendency for Sunday 11 January 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
