Avalanche forecast for Tuesday 13 January 2026.

Wind slabs require caution.

all day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above 2000 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to East.

The mostly shallow wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases especially on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2000 m. Caution is to be exercised in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Mostly avalanches are only small. In the regions neighbouring those that are subject to danger level 2 (moderate) the avalanche prone locations are larger.

And now the snowpack:

In particular along the border with Styria 5 to 10 cm of snow fell in the last few days. The wind has transported the new snow. This applies in particular in the vicinity of peaks. The wind slabs are lying on unfavourable layers at elevated altitudes. The old snowpack consists of faceted crystals. The snowpack will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year in all altitude zones.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind.

The tendency for Wednesday 14 January 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
