Avalanche forecast for Tuesday 27 January 2026.
Wind slabs and weakly bonded old snow are to be assessed with care and prudence.
all day it applies above 2200 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
As a consequence of the moderate to strong foehn wind, the snow drift accumulations will increase in size. The fresh and older wind slabs are prone to triggering. These can be released in the weakly bonded old snow, even by a single winter sport participant. Avalanches can reach medium size. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on west to north to east facing aspects above approximately 2200 m. Caution is to be exercised in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain, as well as on wind-loaded slopes. The avalanche prone locations are barely recognisable.
And now the snowpack:
As a consequence of a freshening southwesterly wind, further wind slabs will form.
The tendency for Wednesday 28 January 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
