Update of the avalanche forecast for Saturday 31 January 2026.
Weak layers in the old snowpack necessitate caution.
all day it applies above 2200 meter considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. Caution is to be exercised in particular in gullies and bowls, as well as at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Mostly avalanches are medium-sized.
And now the snowpack:
The new snow and wind slabs are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack above approximately 2200 m. The old snowpack is faceted.
The tendency for Sunday 1 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
