Avalanche forecast for Thursday 5 February 2026.

The snow sport conditions outside marked and open pistes are critical.

all day it applies above 1800 meter high avalanche danger, so danger level four, below moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.

all day, above 1800 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East. Furthermore, all day, below 1800 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.

Attention, a special warning: The natural avalanche activity will increase.

In particular on west, north and east facing slopes more frequent medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large natural avalanches are possible during the first half of the night. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation this applies especially. Avalanches can in many places be released in the old snowpack. The danger exists in particular in alpine snow sports terrain. Natural avalanches and whumpfing sounds are a clear indication of a weakly bonded snowpack. Remotely triggered avalanches are probable. The avalanche prone locations are prevalent and are barely recognisable.

And now the snowpack:

10 to 25 cm of snow has fallen since Tuesday. 20 to 40 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall. The new snow will be deposited on a weakly bonded old snowpack. Distinct weak layers exist in the old snowpack.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.1: deep persistent weak layer, dp.8: surface hoar blanketed with snow.

The tendency for Friday 6 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
