Update of the avalanche forecast for Sunday 8 February 2026.
Weakly bonded old snow represents the main danger.
all day it applies above 1800 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 1800 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 1800 m. In some cases avalanches are medium-sized.
And now the snowpack:
The new snow and wind slabs of the last few days are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack on west to north to east facing aspects above approximately 1800 m. Distinct weak layers exist in the old snowpack. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be good at times.
We have the following danger patterns: dp.1: deep persistent weak layer.The tendency for Monday 9 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
