Update of the avalanche forecast for Monday 16 February 2026.
Fresh wind slabs require caution. Weakly bonded old snow requires caution.
all day it applies above 1800 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 1800 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, above 1900 meter, we have a wind slab problem. This in all aspects.
As a consequence of new snow and a sometimes strong wind, avalanche prone wind slabs formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. This applies in particular at elevated altitudes. The fresh wind slabs can in some cases be released by a single winter sport participant, but they will be small in most cases.
And now the snowpack:
Some snow has fallen in some regions. As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind from northerly directions, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. The wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack at elevated altitudes.
The tendency for Tuesday 17 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
