Update of the avalanche forecast for Friday 20 February 2026.
Wind slabs and weakly bonded old snow require caution. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in areas close to the tree line and above the tree line.
all day it applies above the treeline considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to South-East.
Furthermore, all day, above the treeline, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
The fresh wind slabs can in some places be released very easily and reach medium size. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain, caution is to be exercised in areas close to the tree line, and above the tree line. The wind slabs will be covered with new snow in some cases and therefore difficult to recognise.
And now the snowpack:
5 to 15 cm of snow will fall during the night. The wind will be moderate.
The tendency for Saturday 21 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
