Avalanche forecast for Sunday 22 February 2026.

A sometimes unfavourable avalanche situation will prevail.

all day it applies above 1800 meter considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.

all day, above 1800 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East. Furthermore, all day, above 1800 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East. Furthermore, all day, below 1800 meter, we have a wet snow problem. This in all aspects.

Wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant above approximately 1800 m. Avalanches can also penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack and reach medium size on west, north and east facing slopes. Remotely triggered avalanches are possible in isolated cases. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized moist loose snow avalanches are possible.

And now the snowpack:

30 to 50 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Thursday. Somewhat older wind slabs are lying on surface hoar in some places. Distinct weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on west, north and east facing slopes. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to significant moistening of the snowpack.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.1: deep persistent weak layer, dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind.

The tendency for Monday 23 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
