Avalanche forecast for Sunday 22 February 2026.
Outside marked and open pistes a sometimes precarious avalanche situation will prevail.
all day it applies above the treeline considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.
all day, above the treeline, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, above 2000 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, below 1800 meter, we have a wet snow problem. This in all aspects.
Wind slabs are very prone to triggering especially on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2000 m. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found also on south facing slopes above approximately 2400 m. Avalanches can be released in near-surface layers of the snowpack.
And now the snowpack:
20 to 40 cm of snow, and up to 60 cm in some localities, has fallen since Thursday. Thus far the wind has been strong to storm force. Some snow will fall.
The tendency for Monday 23 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
