Update of the avalanche forecast for Tuesday 24 February 2026.

Weakly bonded old snow requires caution. In addition the danger of wet avalanches will increase.

all day it applies moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.

all day, above 1800 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East. Furthermore, all day, we have a wet snow problem. Especially in the aspects East to South to West.

Avalanches can be released in the old snowpack and reach medium size. This applies even in case of a single winter sport participant in some cases, especially above approximately 1800 m on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. In their paths avalanches can entrain the wet snow. This extends the avalanche runout distances. As a consequence of warming small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized wet loose snow avalanches are possible. In addition especially at the base of rock walls, individual small and medium-sized wet avalanches are possible. In the event of rain this applies especially. The runout zones are to be treated with caution.

And now the snowpack:

Some rain will fall in some regions. This applies in particular below approximately 1800 m. Distinct weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on west, north and east facing slopes. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced. The weather conditions as the day progresses will give rise to thorough wetting of the snowpack.

The tendency for Wednesday 25 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
