Avalanche forecast for Sunday 15 March 2026.

The fresh snow and the wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence.

all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects South-West to North to North-East.

The fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence. Avalanches can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack and reach medium size on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. As a consequence of warming during the day individual mostly small wet loose snow avalanches are possible.

And now the snowpack:

Shady slopes: Avalanche prone weak layers exist in the old snowpack on northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. This applies especially above the tree line. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced. The weather conditions during the course of the night gave rise to slight moistening of the snowpack. In some localities in some regions 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall during the night, especially above approximately 1800 m.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.4: cold following warm / warm following cold, dp.1: deep persistent weak layer.

The tendency for Monday 16 March 2026 indicates an increasing avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
