Update of the avalanche forecast for Tuesday 17 March 2026.

Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep northwest, north and northeast facing slopes at elevated altitudes.

all day it applies above 1900 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above 1900 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.

Avalanches can in very isolated cases be released by small loads and reach medium size. This applies in particular above approximately 1900 m on very steep northwest, north and northeast facing slopes. Caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example. As the day progresses the likelihood of wet snow slides being released will increase below approximately 1900 m.

And now the snowpack:

Some snow will fall. Above approximately 1900 m: Weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack on northeast, north and northwest facing slopes. Below approximately 1900 m and steep sunny slopes: The old snowpack will be moist.

The tendency for Wednesday 18 March 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
