Avalanche forecast for Saturday 21 March 2026.
Weakly bonded old snow requires caution.
all day it applies above 2200 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Avalanches can in isolated cases be released in the old snowpack and reach medium size. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. They are rather rare but are barely recognisable.
And now the snowpack:
Some snow will fall. Avalanche prone weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack on west, north and east facing slopes. This applies especially above approximately 2200 m. As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind, mostly shallow wind slabs formed. They are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack on shady slopes at elevated altitudes.
We have the following danger patterns: dp.1: deep persistent weak layer. The tendency for Sunday 22 March 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
