Avalanche forecast for Monday 23 March 2026.
Wind slabs and weakly bonded old snow are to be assessed with care and prudence.
all day it applies above 2200 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 2200 meter, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
As a consequence of new snow and wind, mostly small wind slabs formed since Saturday. Even single winter sport participants can release avalanches in some places. These can in some cases be triggered in near-surface layers and reach medium size. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep northwest, north and northeast facing slopes above approximately 2200 m, as well as on very steep west and east facing slopes above approximately 2500 m, in isolated cases also on very steep southeast, south and southwest facing slopes in high Alpine regions. Avalanche prone locations are to be found in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines.
And now the snowpack:
5 to 15 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen.
The tendency for Tuesday 24 March 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
