Avalanche forecast for Tuesday 24 March 2026.
Wind slabs and weakly bonded old snow require caution.
all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, above the treeline, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Weakly bonded old snow is to be evaluated with care and prudence. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in northwest to north to northeast facing aspects. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep shady slopes above the tree line, as well as at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example.
And now the snowpack:
As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind from variable directions, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed in the last few days. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack.
The tendency for Wednesday 25 March 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
