Avalanche forecast for Wednesday 25 March 2026.
Wind slabs and weakly bonded old snow require caution.
all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. Especially in the aspects North-West to North to North-East.
Weakly bonded old snow is to be evaluated with care and prudence. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on steep northwest to north to northeast facing slopes, especially on very steep slopes above the tree line, as well as at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example.
And now the snowpack:
As a consequence of a sometimes strong wind from variable directions, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed in the last few days. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack.
The tendency for Thursday 26 March 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
