Avalanche forecast for Friday 27 March 2026.

Wind slabs represent the main danger.

all day it applies above 1800 meter considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above 1800 meter, we have a wind slab problem. This in all aspects.

The more recent wind slabs represent the main danger. Dry slab avalanches are to be expected. They can be released by small loads. Medium-sized avalanches are possible on wind-loaded slopes. This applies in all aspects above approximately 1800 m, caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Precarious weak layers exist in the old snowpack on very steep shady slopes. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in northwest to north to northeast facing aspects, caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, as well as at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. They can also release deeper layers of the snowpack. Medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large avalanches are possible. Remotely triggered avalanches are possible. In particular slopes that have been little used this winter thus far where weaknesses exist in the old snowpack are especially dangerous.

And now the snowpack:

As a consequence of new snow and a strong to storm force wind from northerly directions, further wind slabs will form in particular in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The fresh wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in all aspects above approximately 1800 m. Precarious weak layers exist in the snowpack on steep shady slopes. This applies especially above the tree line.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind, dp.1: deep persistent weak layer.

The tendency for Saturday 28 March 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
