<highlights>For those venturing off piste a precarious avalanche situation will be encountered over a wide area.</highlights>
<comment>As a consequence of new snow and a storm force northerly wind, sometimes large wind slabs formed in all aspects. These can be released very easily above the tree line. Avalanches can be triggered in near-surface layers. Additionally in some places avalanches can penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack, especially on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m.
The danger exists primarily in alpine snow sports terrain. Whumpfing sounds and the formation of shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack serve as an alarm indicating the danger.

In addition dry loose snow avalanches are possible, in the event of solar radiation especially on extremely steep slopes.

Restraint is advisable on this first sunny day.</comment>

<comment>10 to 20 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Wednesday.
The wind was violent in some cases. The wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly.

The new snow and wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack above the tree line. The old snowpack will be weakly bonded, especially on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m, and on south facing slopes at elevated altitudes.</comment>

      <highlights>Fresh wind slabs require caution.</highlights>
<comment>Wind slabs can be released easily by a single winter sport participant in all aspects above approximately 1800 m. Avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. This also applies at a distance from ridgelines, as well as in places that are protected from the wind. Avalanches are medium-sized.

In isolated cases avalanches can also penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m, and on south facing slopes at elevated altitudes. Especially transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack are unfavourable.</comment>

<highlights>For those venturing off piste a sometimes precarious avalanche situation will prevail.</highlights>
<comment>The large quantity of fresh snow and the extensive wind slabs can be released easily above the tree line. Avalanches can be triggered in near-surface layers and reach medium size. Additionally in isolated cases avalanches can penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack, especially on shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Whumpfing sounds and shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack can indicate the danger.

As a consequence of solar radiation loose snow avalanches are possible. This applies in particular on very steep slopes in places that are protected from the wind.

In addition gliding avalanches are to be expected, especially on cut and grassy slopes below approximately 2400 m.</comment>
