Avalanche forecast for Thursday 2 April 2026.
Wind slabs represent the main danger.
all day it applies above the treeline moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. This in all aspects.
The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to softening of the snowpack below approximately 2000 m. The more recent wind slabs represent the main danger. Avalanches can penetrate down to the ground and reach medium size.
And now the snowpack:
As a consequence of a strong to storm force wind from northerly directions, sometimes large wind slabs formed in the last few days in particular in gullies and bowls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. The fresh wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in all aspects and generally above the tree line.
The tendency for Friday 3 April 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
