Avalanche prone locations are to be found especially on very steep west, north and northeast facing slopes between approximately 2200 and 2800 m. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep sunny slopes in high Alpine regions. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found also on very steep slopes in areas close to the tree line. This applies along the border with Bavaria. The avalanche prone locations are difficult to recognise. Whumpfing sounds and the formation of shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack can indicate the danger. Avalanches can in very isolated cases penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack and reach large size. &lt;br/&gt; In addition small and medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible, in the event of prolonged bright spells especially on extremely steep slopes. Small to medium-sized gliding avalanches are possible in particular on steep grassy slopes.</avActivityComment>
