Avalanche forecast for Sunday 5 April 2026.
Weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack can be released in some places by people. Rapid increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches in the course of the day.
earlier in the day it applies moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.
later in the day it applies above 2200 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three.
earlier in the day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, earlier in the day, below 2400 meter, we have a wet snow problem. Especially in the aspects East to South to West.
Furthermore, later in the day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, later in the day, below 2800 meter, we have a wet snow problem. Especially in the aspects East to South to West.
Avalanches can in some cases be released in near-surface layers and reach medium size. Avalanche prone locations are to be found especially on very steep west, north and northeast facing slopes between approximately 2200 and 2800 m. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found also on very steep sunny slopes in high Alpine regions. Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found also on very steep slopes in areas close to the tree line. This applies along the border with Bavaria. The avalanche prone locations are difficult to recognise. Whumpfing sounds and the formation of shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack can indicate the danger. Avalanches can in very isolated cases penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack and reach large size.
And now the snowpack:
Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the top section of the old snowpack, especially on west, north and northeast facing slopes between approximately 2200 and 2800 m, and on sunny slopes in high Alpine regions, also on west, north and east facing slopes in areas close to the tree line. This applies in particular along the border with Bavaria.
The tendency for Monday 6 April 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
