Update of the avalanche forecast for Monday 6 April 2026.
Weakly bonded old snow requires caution. As the day progresses the likelihood of wet avalanches being released will increase.
earlier in the day it applies above 2200 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
later in the day it applies moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.
earlier in the day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, later in the day, above 2200 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, later in the day, below 2800 meter, we have a wet snow problem. Especially in the aspects East to South to West.
Dry avalanches can in some cases be released in the old snowpack, this applies even in case of a single winter sport participant in isolated cases. They can penetrate down to the ground and reach medium size. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m, and on south facing slopes in high Alpine regions. Especially transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack are unfavourable.
And now the snowpack:
Hard wind slabs are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack in particular on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2200 m. The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations.
The tendency for Tuesday 7 April 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
