Avalanche forecast for Saturday 11 April 2026.

Wet snow represents the main danger.

all day it applies moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.

all day, we have a wet snow problem. This in all aspects.

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will already be elevated in the early morning. As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of avalanches being released will increase a little. Wet avalanches can in very isolated cases penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack and reach medium size, in particular on very steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2000 m.

And now the snowpack:

Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be severely restricted. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing and thorough wetting of the snowpack. Towards its base, the snowpack consists of faceted crystals, especially on shady slopes at elevated altitudes.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.10: springtime scenario, dp.1: deep persistent weak layer.

The tendency for Sunday 12 April 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
