Weakly bonded old snow represents the main danger.

all day it applies above 1800 meter moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two, below low avalanche danger, so danger level one.

all day, above 1800 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.

Avalanches can be released in the weakly bonded old snow by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular on west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 1800 m. In very isolated cases avalanches are medium-sized. Whumpfing sounds and the formation of shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack can indicate the danger.
