Avalanche forecast for Monday 8 December 2025.

As a consequence of new snow and warming a sometimes unfavourable avalanche situation will prevail. Weakly bonded old snow represents the main danger.

all day it applies above 2000 meter considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.

all day, above 2000 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East. Furthermore, all day, below 2500 meter, we have a gliding snow problem. This in all aspects.

During the first half of the night as the snowfall level rises there will be an appreciable increase in the avalanche danger to level 3 (considerable). Individual natural avalanches are possible during the course of the night, in particular medium-sized ones. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches easily. This applies in particular on steep west, north and east facing slopes above approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of the rain more frequent gliding avalanches and snow slides are possible, but they will be mostly small.

And now the snowpack:

Up to 2500 m rain will fall until late morning in some regions. The snowpack will become weakly bonded over a wide area. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the old snowpack. This applies especially on west, north and east facing slopes at elevated altitudes, in particular in shady places that are protected from the wind. The fresh and older wind slabs are lying on surface hoar in some places on shady slopes.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.1: deep persistent weak layer, dp.3: rain.

The tendency for Tuesday 9 December 2025 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
