Avalanche forecast for Wednesday 4 February 2026.
Slab avalanches and loose snow slides are the main danger. Outside marked and open pistes a dangerous avalanche situation will prevail.
all day it applies above the treeline considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three, below moderate avalanche danger, so danger level two.
all day, above the treeline, we have a wind slab problem. This in all aspects.
Furthermore, all day, above the treeline, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
Furthermore, all day, above 1000 meter, we have a new snow problem. This in all aspects.
Attention, a special warning: New snow, wind slabs and old snow require caution. The conditions are precarious for backcountry touring and other off-piste activities.
The fresh snow of yesterday and the wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack above the tree line. In particular on wind-loaded slopes avalanches can be released easily and reach large size in isolated cases. Whumpfing sounds and the formation of shooting cracks when stepping on the snowpack and natural avalanches serve as an alarm indicating the danger. Remotely triggered avalanches are possible.
And now the snowpack:
The new snow and wind slabs of Tuesday are lying on surface hoar above the tree line.
The tendency for Thursday 5 February 2026 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
