Avalanche report for Thursday 28 November 2024.

I only write in German =)

all day it applies above 1600 meter low avalanche danger, so danger level one, below high avalanche danger, so danger level four.

all day, below 1600 meter, we have no distinct avalanche problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.

Attention, a special warning: In particular transitions into gullies and bowls where surface hoar has been covered with snow are especially critical.

And now the snowpack:

As a consequence of mild temperatures and rain up to high altitudes an unfavourable avalanche situation developed during the last two days. The snowpack is fairly homogeneous and its surface has a melt-freeze crust. Towards its base, the snowpack is moist. The snowpack is faceted and weak and has faceted crystals on the surface. On cut and grassy slopes numerous mostly small avalanches occurred naturally. Gliding avalanches can be released at any time of day or night. These weather conditions will prevent a substantial change towards better conditions.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.2: gliding snow, dp.8: surface hoar blanketed with snow.

The tendency for Friday 29 November 2024 indicates an increasing avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
