Avalanche report for Thursday 28 November 2024.

The new snow represents the main danger.

all day it applies above the treeline high avalanche danger, so danger level four, below considerable avalanche danger, so danger level three.

all day, above the treeline, we have a new snow problem. This in all aspects. Furthermore, all day, below the treeline, we have a new snow problem. This in all aspects.

The new snow of the last few days can be released easily or naturally in all aspects above the tree line. In particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation numerous medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large slab avalanches are to be expected as the snowfall becomes more intense. As a consequence of new snow and a sometimes storm force wind, sometimes large wind slabs will form in the course of the day in all aspects. The off-piste conditions are dangerous.

And now the snowpack:

Over a wide area 50 cm of snow, and up to 70 cm in some localities, will fall until the early morning above approximately 1800 m. The covering of new snow is soft. The new snow will be deposited on surface hoar in areas close to the tree line. Snow profiles and stability tests have confirmed the distinct danger. Over a wide area new snow is lying on a weakly bonded old snowpack.

We have the following danger patterns: dp.6: cold, loose snow and wind.

The tendency for Friday 29 November 2024 indicates a steady avalanche danger.

Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
