Update of the avalanche report for Wednesday 4 December 2024.
In gullies and bowls, isolated avalanches are possible.
all day it applies low avalanche danger, so danger level one.
all day, above 2600 meter, we have a persistent weak layer problem. Especially in the aspects West to North to East.
In gullies and bowls above approximately 2600m, isolated avalanches can be triggered particularly by large additional loading. The releases will mostly be small-sized and occur especially in shady, wind-protected zones along the Salzburg border. Apart from the risk of being buried in snow masses, the danger of being swept along and taking a fall should be taken into consideration.
And now the snowpack:
Locally, 5-10 cm of fresh snow has been recorded. The newest snowdrift accumulations will be deposited mostly on shady slopes above about 2600m atop a weak old snowpack surface. The upper part of the snowpack is soft; the mid-level layeers are faceted; the lower layers are hardened. There is little snow on the ground.s b
The tendency for Thursday 5 December 2024 indicates a steady avalanche danger.
Have a nice day and don't forget to be careful!
