Otherwise, breakable wind crusts and, on sunny slopes, melt-freeze crusts dominate. Avalanche danger assessment During the morning hours generally favourable conditions reign, danger is low. Starting at midday, small to medium-sized wet-snow and glide snow avalanches are possible below 2400 m on sunny slopes, below 1800 m on shady slopes. Glide-snow avalanches can release at any time of day or night. Caution below glide cracks. Backcountry tours should be launched early, terminated early. And: avoid the well known avalanche starting zones. Especially in extremely steep shady terrain, isolated slab avalanches can be triggered by large additional loading in transitions from shallow to deep snow. Apart from the risks of being buried in snow masses, the danger of being forced to take a fall and swept along deserve consideration.
